Tehran Hosts 1st Ever Quran Contests Among Islamic World Armed Forces

Tehran, Jan 21, IRNA - Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolutionˈs Guard Corps (IRGC) for publicity and cultural affairs Brigadier General Mohammad Ali Asoudi said on Sunday that Tehran is to host the first ever Quran competitions among the armed forces of Islamic countries. According to IRGC public relations department, he said contesters from 21 Islamic states would attend the event. The IRGC commander is to deliver a key not speech in the opening ceremony, he said. Some 16 countries have refused to attend the four-day event due to their legal restrictions, he said. Representatives from 13 Islamic countries have entered the country so far, he said. Representatives from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Guinea, Malaysia, Sudan, Niger, Jordan, Bosnia and Herzegovina arrived here on Sunday, he said./end
