Tel-U Cooperates With Turkey And Australia Universities

Bandung, West Java, Sept 30 (Antara) - Telkom University (Tel-U) has established cooperation with Turkey`s Gazi University and Australia`s Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) to improve its quality and expand educational networks. "Cooperation between Tel-U and the two foreign universities covers a number of aspects such as in the development of post graduate program of doctorate studies in techniques and management in Tel-U," its deputy rector for administration and international relations Dr Ama Suyanto here on Monday. The cooperation agreements were signed with Gazi University on the occasion of the celebration of the European Assosiation for International Education (EAIE) in Istambul, Turkey, on September 11, 2013, and with RMIT on September 20 . Gazi University rector Prof Dr S�leyman B�y�kberber and RMIT record Prof Margaret Gardner signed for their respective universities. Gazi University was established in 1926 by the modern Turkey`s founding father Mustafa Kemal Attaturk, having 21 faculties with 77,000 students and 3,000 lecturers. The university is one of the largest and most prestigious in Turkey, Dr Ama Suyanto said RMIT was established in 1887, also one of the largest and oldest universities in Australia having 75,000 students of diploma program, graduate and post graduate students. Tel-U is taking inventory of data of lecturers to proceed more advanced studies, Ama Suyanto said. He said RMIT offers a discount in cost of lecture, Tel-U and RMIT will cooperate in the form of in exchanges of studies and joint research by academicians of both universities. RMIT will also provide trainings for the state telecommunications company PT Telkom,that owns Tel-U . Meanwhile, Gazi University offers transfer credit study allowing students to enjoy studies for a number of semesters in Turkey before graduating from Tel-U . On the other hand Turkish students could study at Tel-U for number of semesters . Ama said Tel-U also is seeking to have similar cooperation with an Indian university, three South Korean universities and another Turkish university . "Our target is to establish cooperation with at least 10 foreign universities this year," he added.
