Temperatures in Thailand drop sharply

CHIANG MAI, Dec 12 (TNA) - Many tourists are still seen in several northern provinces, admiring the beauty of mountains, frozen dew and sea of fog before dawn as the three-day long holiday ended today. In the northern capital of Chiang Mai, tourists braved the cold and traveled up Doi Inthanon, the country’s highest mountain to view the sun rises and sea of fog. Amid the temperature of 14 degrees Celsius, tourists were seen gathering at Wat Rong Khun, better known as ‘the White Temple’ in the northernmost province of Chiang Rai bordering Myanmar. They also took photographs of the Buddhist temple which is one of the must -see attractions in the province. Meanwhile, more than 300 cyclists from across the country rode in an attempt to conquer a mountain and also to view sea of fog in Nakhon Thai district of Phitsanulok province as the temperature dropped to 13 degrees Celsius. But the falling temperatures made hilltribe people, living along Tak province bordering Myanmar suffering as they sat around bonfires to keep themselves warm as the temperature dropped below 10 degrees Celsius. They asked the authorities to supply them with warm clothes and blankets as the temperature in the area is likely to fall further. (TNA)
