Terror attack on church in Egypt denounced

Manama, Aug. 12 (BNA): Board of Trustees Chairman of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa denounced the terrorist attempt to blow up the Coptic Orthodox Church of the Virgin Mary, in the eastern Mostorod neighbourhood of the district of Shubra Al-Kheima on the northern outskirts of the capital Cairo. He condemned all terrorist acts targeting innocent people in sacred places and houses of worship in the world.

In a statement issued by the centre, Dr. Shaikh Khalid strongly condemned the terrorist attack, describing it as a heinous crime that is in breach of all humanitarian values preached by all religions and doctrines. He added that the attack is also a deliberate ignorance of the principles of coexistence and tolerance and has nothing to do with any right ideology or civilisational behaviour. He also noted the Declaration of the Kingdom of Bahrain translates the philosophy and visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa regarding tolerance, coexistence and peace. He pointed out the kingdom’s efforts to promote the declaration’s principles all over the world, calling on all the human community to hold on to humanitarian values guaranteeing freedom of worship for all.
