Thai Air Force: Tear gas did not explode during training

BANGKOK, April 21 (TNA) - The Royal Thai Air Force has confirmed that there was no tear gas explosion during a training in Bangkok's Bang Plad District last weekend and no one was harmed by an accidental tear gas mishap. Royal Thai Air Force Spokesman Air Marshal Monthon Satchukorn made the confirmation, in response to an incident last Saturday morning in which a powder tear gas, used specially for the training was dispersed, causing eye irritations among participants. According to the spokesman, everyone in the group was then given a first aid assistance in rinsing their faces and eyes and could return and carry on the training. The spokesman insisted that no one was seriously hurt or injured in the incident and none of them was sent to hospital as rumoured. Earlier, Bang Plad District Office wrote to the Royal Thai Air Force, asking for assistance in sending a group of Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) personnel to give a training session about explosives and safety procedures against bombs to authorities and public communities in the Bang Plad area, after a recent explosion of a World War II bomb in Lad Pla Kao 72 in the capital, killing and injuring several people. The Royal Thai Air Force then sent the group of EOD officers to provide the training, set from 9am to noon. (TNA)
