Thai armed forces chief invited to visit Pakistan

BANGKOK, December 19 (TNA) - New Pakistani Ambassador to Thailand Sohail Khan has invited Royal Thai Armed Forces Chief General Worapong Sa-nganet to visit Pakistan to observe national defence industry in his country. The invitation was made during an introductory call by the new Pakistani top envoy to the Thai Supreme Commander at the Royal Thai Armed Forces headquarters on the outskirts of Bangkok on Friday. At the meeting, both sides also discussed several issues on military ties and cooperation between Bangkok and Islamabad, including cooperation against terrorism and Pakistan's participation in the annual US-Thailand Cobra Gold military exercises as an observer country. General Worapong later told journalists of warm military cooperation between Thailand and Pakistan, including joint peace–keeping missions and anti-terrorism in the region, in which Pakistan has well experiences. The Thai supreme commander said he also thanked the new Pakistani ambassador in Bangkok on inviting him to observe Pakistan's national defence industry, which should create a new area of bilateral cooperation in military technology in the future.
