Thai armed forces chiefs to discuss political solution after Dec 5

BANGKOK, December 3 (TNA) - Thailand's armed forces chiefs will discuss a solution to the ongoing domestic political deadlock after His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's birthday on December 5. Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Prajin Jantong told reporters that Supreme Commander General Tanasak Patimapragorn will call a meeting with armed forces chiefs after His Majesty the King's birthday on this coming Thursday. According to the air force chief, if all parties, including military and police officers, as well as government officials devote themselves to His Majesty the King and national interest as they have vowed, there will be no problems and the domestic situation will not grow out of hand. Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha said the current domestic political turbulence has resulted from politics; so politicians have to solve it, while the military should distance itself from politics and just follow up the situation. Meanwhile, police dropped leaflets and copies of an arrest warrant against Suthep Thaugsuban, the leader of the largest anti-government protest group from a helicopter at Bangkok's Government Complex, in which he and his supporters are gathering. In the leaflets, police state that the Criminal Court has approved the arrest warrant, as Suthep, who is a former MP and a former deputy prime minister under Thailand's main opposition Democrat Party, has been charged with treason among other offenses, asking demonstrators to cooperate with police's law enforcement and leave illegitimate protests.(TNA)
