Thai army chopper makes crash landing, five injured

BANGKOK, June 17 (TNA) - Five soldiers were injured and rushed to a local hospital on Monday morning, when their helicopter made a crash landing in Thailand's central Nakhon Nayok Province. The helicopter of the Royal Thai Army's Aviation Center in Lop Buri Province reportedly made the emergency landing near a pond in Moo 4 area of the Pa Kha locality in Nakhon Nayok province's Ban Na district, causing damage to the army chopper and the injuries of the five soldiers, who were admitted to the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy's hospital in Nakhon Nayok. Investigators reported that the army helicopter was carrying eight people, including a pilot and an engineer, from Lop Buri to Sa Kaeo provinces but an engine failure forced the crash landing. Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha, meanwhile, ordered the army spokesman to explain the incident to end public confusion, after initial reports said that the crash landing killed some army officers.
