BANGKOK, December 6 (TNA) – Army Commander-in-Chief General Udomdej Sitabutr has ordered army personnel to distribute water, blankets and pullovers to the needy people in Thailand’s northeastern and northern regions, which are facing severe drought and cold respectively, according to an army deputy spokesperson. Colonel Sirichan Ngathong told reporters on Saturday that soldiers have been instructed to coordinate with concerned agencies to assist drought and cold victims, especially those who are living in remote areas. She said three northeastern provinces including Nakhon Ratchasima, Sakon Nakhon and Maha Sarakham are encountering severe drought while Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai and Loei provinces in the North are facing a bad cold spell. The spokesperson said some 132,000 litres of drinking water, 3,100 blankets and 15,000 pullovers have already been distributed to the needy people in the two regions. (TNA)
