Thai authorities invited to attend World Conference on Disaster Prevention

BANGKOK, October 15 (TNA) - Japan has invited Thai authorities concerned to attend the World Conference on Disaster Prevention in Sendai, the capital of the Japanese Miyagi Prefecture, in March 2015. Japanese Ambassador to Thailand Shigekazu Sato made the invitation when he paid a courtesy call on new Thai Interior Minister General Anupong Paojinda at the Ministry of Interior in Bangkok on Wednesday. The Japanese top envoy invited the Thai interior minister and other concerned government authorities to attend next March's conference. The Japanese ambassador also praised the interior minister's roles in the government and mentioned sound bilateral relations between Tokyo and Bangkok. According to the Japanese top envoy, about 60,000 Japanese nationals are living in Thailand and about 4,000 Japanese firms are running their businesses in the Thai economy, with their investment accounting for about half of the overall investment in the country. The Japanese ambassador said Japanese people feel great friendship with Thai people and do hope that the Thai Ministry of Interior will support and take care of them for stronger bilateral relations.
