Thai authorities not worried by BRN’s demands

BANGKOK, June 28 (TNA) - Thai authorities have expressed no worries over recent demands aired by the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) insurgency movement, as Thailand has done everything by laws. Defence Minister Air Chief Marshal Sukumpol Suwanatat told journalists in Bangkok on Friday morning, before flying to the violence-plagued Thai far South for a one-day visit, that the BRN's seven demands have not concerned Thai security authorities concerned, as Thailand is not in any inferior position and has done everything by laws and, thus, has nothing to be worried. Regarding his fresh visit to the deep South, Air Chief Marshal Sukumpol said that, after his arrival in Narathiwat province, he would have a monthly meeting with local military personnel. According to the defence minister, he was scheduled to meet with the commanding general of the 4th army area command and local unit commanders, who would brief him on the updated security situation and solutions to the troubled southernmost Thai region at the Chulabhorn military camp in Narathiwat's Muang district. The defence minister acknowledged that it appears to be difficult to secure all corners in the Thai far South, as security problems there are complicated and will take times to solve. The incumbent defence minister insisted that security measures in the Thai deep South during the upcoming Ramadan month of Muslim fasting will be the same as those in other periods. (TNA)
