Thai authorities probe on loss of Thai visa labels in KL

BANGKOK, August 22 (TNA) - Deputy Prime Minister Police General Pracha Promnok says that he has ordered an investigation into the recent loss of 300 Thai visa labels from the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Police General Pracha told reporters at Bangkok's Government House on Thursday that investigators are finding out whether the loss has involved any terrorism attempt. According to the deputy premier, nine persons using the labels were arrested and the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already nullified the rest 291 labels. The Thai deputy prime minister acknowledged that the nine arrested people include a Cameroonian and a Guinean who were caught in Thailand's northeastern Mukdahan province, while the rest seven were apprehended at Thailand's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport, comprising three Pakistanis, two Iranians and two Indians. The Thai deputy premier denied reports that 259 lost visa labels had been used, stressing that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is investigating the issue and he wonders why the loss of Thai visa labels happened only in Malaysia.
