Thai authorities seize 2.4 meth at southern border

YALA, April 14 (TNA) -- The Thai Southern Border Province Police Operation Centre has seized over 2.4 methamphetamine pills while they being smuggled near the Thai southern border yesterday. Deputy Commander of the Southern Border Province Police Operation Centre Pol Maj Gen Katcha Thatsart, during a press conference at the centre's headquarters, said that the centre's investigative team, together with police officers from the Pattani Provincial Police Station have made the arrest, confiscating 242,000 pill of methamphetamine. Two suspects which were believed to be working for one of the biggest drug syndicates in the area were arrested along with three cars, and two mobile phones. The first suspect, 51 year old Sataban Chansena, was caught on April 11 while he was trying to smuggle 182,000 meth pills in a black Toyota Vigo pickup truck. The police then further their investigations which led them to also arrest another suspect from the same drug syndicate on April 12, a male named Tamisi Sa-i, along with 60,000 meth pills. Interrogations revealed that the drugs have been transported from the country's central region to be sold in the three southern border provinces during the Songkran Festival. (TNA)
