Thai Cabinet decides to sanction NKorea based on UN resolution

BANGKOK, April 30 (TNA) - Thailand has followed a resolution of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on sanctioning North Korea, in response to Pyongyang's tests of nuclear weapons. Government Spokesman Tosaporn Serirak told a press conference on Tuesday that the Thai Cabinet made the decision at its weekly meeting earlier in the day. The spokesman said the Thai Cabinet, thus, ordered concerned agencies to act accordingly, including the Ministries of Defence and Commerce, as well as the National Security Council (NSC), the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the Royal Thai Police, the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT), the Bank of Thailand (BOT) and the Civil Aviation Board. Meanwhile, Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra told journalists after the Cabinet meeting that the UNSC has requested the cooperation from member states and its recent resolution complies with Thailand’s hope for peace in the region.
