Thai, Cambodian authorities to discuss border peace on Oct 28

BANGKOK, October 25 (TNA) - Thai and Cambodian authorities will address border peace on October 28, 2013, days before the Hague-based International Court of Justice (ICJ) rules on a territorial dispute case of both neighbouring countries related to the Preah Vihear Temple on November 11. Representing a working group of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Nuttavudh Photisaro and Thai Ambassador to The Hague Virachai Plasai met Chakraphan Yomjinda, Deputy Board Chairman of MCOT Public Company Limited (MCOT), and other MCOT executives at MCOT head office in Bangkok on Friday to discuss issues related to the ICJ's anticipated verdict on the case. They later told journalists that a committee, headed by Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul, was formed to consider possible impacts of the World Court's ruling concerning the security situation and international relations. The top Thai envoy to The Hague confirmed, meanwhile, that the working groups of both countries will meet to talk about mechanisms to ensure peace along their border on October 28 before the ICJ's ruling.
