Thai, Cambodian health ministries cooperate on treatment

BANGKOK, July 22 (TNA) - Thai and Cambodian hospitals have agreed to work on improving medical access along the border, especially for treating common monsoon diseases like Malaria. Dr. Thawatchai Kamoltham, an inspector general of Thailand’s Public Health Ministry, said one of the aims would involve lowering treatment and doctor fees, covering Sa Kaeo Hospital, Phra Pok Klao Chanthaburi Hospital, Trat Hospital, Banteay Meanchey Hospital, Battambang Hospital and Koh Kong Hospital. Dr. Thawatchai said until now hospitals situated in seven Thai provinces bordering Cambodia had spent nearly 50 million baht a year providing free treatment to low income Cambodian patients. Meanwhile, hospitals in three Thai border provinces including Trat, Chanthaburi and Sa Kaeo had also spent about 24 million baht a year for the cause. (TNA)
