Thai couples tie knots underwater, in adventurous themes

BANGKOK, 13 (TNA) - As previous years, seaside Trang province in the Thai South has welcomed couples who are tying their knots underwater on St. Valentine's Day, which falls on February 14, numbered at five this year; while three others have opted to wed in adventurous themes in Prachinburi province in the Thai East. In Trang, the five Thai couples will register their marriage under the sea, off the Kradan Island, on Thursday, as part of the 17th Underwater Wedding Ceremony organized by the southern resort Thai province from February 13-15. Also on the St. Valentine's Day, the other 26 couples will register their marriage on a ferry and then swim to the Morakot Cave in Trang, an unseen tourist attraction in Thailand, and travel to other attractive islands all the day. All the 31 couples arrived at Trang Airport on Wednesday, when they were warmly received by Trang Governor Thirayuth Iam-trakul, Vice Chair of the Thai Chamber of Commerce Surin Totabtiang and Chair of Trang's provincial chamber of commerce and later traveled to plant trees a botanic garden in Yantakhao area, attended a traditional Thai wedding ceremony of pouring lustre water, after a "Khan Mak" procession, and participated in an unofficial wedding banquet on Wednesday evening. In Prachinburi, three couples tied their knots at the 10th adventure-themed wedding ceremony on the eve of St. Valentine’s Day, organized at Baan Pha-ngam Resort in Nadee District, during which the brides and the grooms had to pass the "runway of love" by fleeing, together hand-in-hand, from a 2-metre diameter-giant flower bunch, rode together on a 10.5-metre high giant swing in the so-called “wedding in the sky” stage, enjoying the scenery of Dong Phaya Yen Mountain at the height of 25 metres hand-in-hand and joined a challenging honney moon activity.
