Thai court sets ruling on last year's murder of two Britons Dec 24

SURAT THANI, THAILAND, October 12 (TNA) - The Thai court on Samui Island in the southern resort Surat Thani Province has set December 24, 2015 for its ruling on last year's murder of two British tourists on Koh Tao, after the cross examination of defense witnesses was concluded on October 11. In the case, two Myanmar migrant workers, identified as Win Zaw Htun and Zaw Lin, both 21 years old, were charged with murdering the two Britons, David Miller and Hannah Witheridge, both were reportedly 24 years old, on Koh Tao's Sai Ree Beach in Surat Thani on September 15, 2014. The court told public prosecutors and the lawyers of the two defendants to submit their closing statements by October 26. Mothers of both defendants insisted they strongly believed in their sons’ innocence and the justice system and would travel to Surat Thani to listen to the court ruling by themselves. Nakorn Chompoochart, a defense lawyer from the Lawyers Council of Thailand, told reporters that seven lawyers have devoted themselves to the defense and after the court's ruling, they might elaborate on their work in the case.
