Thai Crown Prince opens National Legislative Assembly

BANGKOK, August 7 (TNA) - His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn has ceremonially started the session of Thailand's National Legislative Assembly (NLA) on behalf of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn was received by Thai Army and National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha, NLA members and concerned officials at the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall, located near Bangkok's Parliament building, before the inaugural ceremony took place at 3pm. The inauguration followed the recent appointment of NLA members by virtue of Thailand's 2014 provisional Constitution and His Majesty the King's issuance of a royal decree to convene the NLA on August 7. There are now 197 NLA members, after three appointed members have resigned. The NLA is scheduled to choose its president and vice presidents on August 8 and the NCPO chief will then nominate their names for a royal approval expected by August 12, after that the NLA will select an interim Thai prime minister and work out its regulations.
