Thai defence minister visits Japan

BANGKOK, November 6 (TNA) - Thai Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwon is paying a three-day visit to Japan, scheduled for November 6-8, aimed mainly to strengthen military ties and cooperation between Bangkok and Tokyo. According to a Defence Ministry statement, General Prawit left for Tokyo on Thursday and would meet his Japanese counterpart Akinori Eto after his arrival in the Japanese capital. Issues raised during the Thai-Japanese defence minister's talks are expected to include bilateral and regional security cooperation. Thailand and Japan have also worked together in such areas as education, personnel training and disaster relief missions, especially between military officers of both sides. (TNA)
