Thai Deputy Defense Minister attends 20th GBC meeting in Laos

BANGKOK, July 18 (TNA) - Thai Deputy Defense Minister General Yuthasak Sasiprapha left for the Laotian capital of Vientiane Thursday to attend the 20th General Border Committee (GBC) meeting. General Yuthasak joins the meeting on behalf of Thai Prime Minister and Defense Minister Yingluck Shinawatra at the in vitiation of Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Douang-chay Phi-chit. Among issues expected to be discussed during the 20th GBC are deployment of troops of the two counties along their border, joint patrols on the Mekong River, and cooperation on immigration control and suppression of illicit drugs. Also, attending the meeting are Thai Deputy Permanent Secretary for Defense General Nipat Thonglek and representatives of Thailand’s armed forces. (TNA)
