Thai DPM, FM extends condolences on Lee Kuan Yew's passing away

BANGKOK, March 24 (TNA) - Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister General Tanasak Patimaprakorn has sent a message of condolences to Singapore's Minister For Foreign Affairs And Minister For Law K Shanmugam on the passing away of the island state's founding father H.E. Mr. Lee Kuan Yew. In the message, General Tanasak expressed his deepest condolences to the Singapore Minister For Foreign Affairs And Minister For Law and people on the passing away of the Singapore first prime minister. The Thai deputy prime minister and foreign minister said that the Singapore late founding prime minister has left behind an everlasting legacy on Singapore and the region at large and he will be, therefore, always remembered for his bold and visionary statesmanship in developing the island state into a stable and prosperous nation. According to the Thai deputy premier and foreign minister, Thailand are very grateful to the Singapore late first prime minister for his significant role in the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Singapore half a century ago, in which the seeds of friendship have fully blossomed presently. The Thai deputy premier and foreign minister also praised the Singapore late founding father for his contribution to the formation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Besides, the Thai deputy prime minister and foreign minister said his thoughts and prayers are with the Singapore people during this time of their difficulty. Lee passed away peacefully at Singapore General Hospital before dawn on March 23 at the age of 91, after he had critically suffered from pneumonia and a lung infection. (TNA)
