Thai DPM to visit Malaysia Nov 9-10

BANGKOK, November 8 (TNA) - Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan is scheduled to visit Malaysia during November 9-10 to attend the Thai-Malaysian General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting 2016. Speaking to journalists in Bangkok prior to his departure to Malaysia, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit, who oversees national security affairs, said on Tuesday that he plans to hold talks with the Malaysian side on border cooperation for the sake of public and national security of both neighbouring countries. According to the Thai deputy premier, the bilateral cooperation covers military cooperation, cross-border transport of goods and people's travels and tourism. Accompanied by his entourage, including National Police Chief General Chakthip Chaijinda, the deputy prime minister revealed that his delegation also plans to discuss with the Malaysian side on the situation in the troubled Thai Far South and cross-border cooperation against transnational terrorism.
