Thai EC ready for election of senators

BANGKOK, March 22 (TNA) - The Election Commission of Thailand or EC says it is now fully prepared to organise the next election for senators, set on March 30, 2014. EC Secretary-General PuchongNutrawong told journalists on Saturday that advance voting for the Senate election will be held on Sunday, one week ahead of the March 30 election day. A total of 77 senators will be elected to sit on the 150-member of the Thai Upper House, while the rest come from appointments. According to the EC secretary-general, eligible voters who have already registered to exercise their right on Sunday's advance voting for senators day are to cast their ballots from 8am–3p.m. The EC secretary-general revealed that there will be 905 polling booths nationwide and 891 places to keep ballot boxes.(TNA)
