Thai FDA:Measures are in place to ensure veggies safety

BANGKOK, August 10 (TNA) - Thailand's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the Ministry of Public Health has assured that progressive measures have now been in good place to ensure safety and quality of vegetables sold on the domestic market. FDA Deputy Secretary-General Srinuan Korakochakorn, has insisted that strict measures have been implemented to make sure that all vegetables sold to local consumers are of good quality. Dr. Sri-nuan told journalists that the FDA has regularly sent mobile units equipped with chemical test kits to local fresh markets to test the safety of vegetables. The FDA deputy chief vowed to fine sellers of contaminated vegetables up to 50,000 baht each, if found, recommending the public to wash vegetables with sodium bicarbonate and water every time before cooking.
