Thai FM informs int'l community of nullified Feb 2 general election

BANGKOK, March 25 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has complained against the nullified February 2 general election, as recently ruled by Bangkok's Constitution Court, with the international community. Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul told journalists on Tuesday that he had ordered staffs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to issue a statement on Monday evening, informing the world community that the Constitution Court had ruled to nullify Thailand's general election on February 2, 2014. Surapong said he regrets that a fundamental right of over 20 million Thai people who cast their ballots on February 2 was violated and he wants the international community to beware of the matter. The caretaker deputy prime minister also urged the affected Thai voters to complain with the courts that their electoral right was infringed. According to the caretaker deputy prime minister, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs' move was not aimed to let other countries intervene in an internal affair, but it was aimed to inform the international community and demand justice for the Thai voters who love democracy.(TNA)
