Thai FM visits Vietnam July 7-9

HANOI, July 8 (TNA) - Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai is paying a three-day visit to Vietnam, scheduled for July 7-9, to attend the 2nd Vietnam-Thailand Foreign Ministers’ Retreat at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Binh Minh, who is also the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister. Don first met with the Vietnamese deputy prime minister and foreign minister in Hanoi on Friday morning, after his arrival in the Vietnamese capital on Thursday night. The visiting Thai foreign minister later met with representatives of the Vietnamese private sector and mass media to discuss the direction of bilateral relations between Vietnam and Thailand, organised by the Vietnamese-Thai Business Council, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations this year, during which Sanan Ungubolkul from the Thai side was officially introduced as the new Chairman of the Vietnamese-Thai Business Council that coordinates and promotes cooperation and the expansion of trade and investment between the Vietnamese and the Thai business sectors. The visiting Thai foreign minister was scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Friday evening to strengthen bilateral relations between Hanoi and Bangkok and exchange views on ways to further enhance diplomatic relations and ties and cooperation in all other dimensions of both sides based on their strategic partnership. The Thai foreign minister is scheduled to leave Hanoi for Bangkok on Saturday morning. (TNA)
