Thai girl receives singing awards

BANGKOK, June 19 (TNA) - A 12-year-old girl has clinched two prizes from the American Protégé International Vocal Competition 2016. Ampaiporn Atipan-ampai nicknamed Leena, won the prizes in the musical category and an outstanding singer from the judges. The competitions are divided into four categories including the opera, classic, traditional song and musical. Ampaiporn sent video clips, singing two songs including ‘Wishing you were somehow here again’ from the musical drama ‘Phantom of the opera’ and ‘Defying gravity’ from the ‘Wicked’. She will travel to receive prizes during the Winner’s Recital party at the Carnegie Hall in New York this December. She is now a 6th grade student at an international school in Bangkok. Her special talents include singing, playing piano, ukulele and guitar. Also, she is now a youngest member of the Senior Chamber Choir at her school. (TNA)
