Thai government to go ahead with water resources management

BANGKOK, January 20 (TNA) - The Thai government plans to soon launch a comprehensive management of water resources in the country as a long-term solution to water problems, including repeated floods and drought. Deputy Government Spokesman Major General Sansern Kaewkamnerd told journalists on Tuesday that the Thai Cabinet has, therefore, endorsed a draft bill on the setting up of the National Water Resources Policy Committee, tasked with the mission. The deputy spokesman said that the Cabinet made the decision at its weekly meeting at Bangkok's Government House earlier in the day. According to the deputy spokesman, Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha will head the newly-set up committee himself. (TNA)
