Thai government looks for alternative law in lieu of martial law

BANGKOK, March 19 (TNA) - The Thai government is looking for an alternative law to secure national order in place of the martial law. Interior Minister General Anupong Paojinda told journalists of the move on Wednesday, saying that Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has assigned legal experts to study the appropriateness of the idea, aimed to build up the international community's confidence in Thailand. General Anupong explained, however, that the martial law has been imposed only to prevent and deal with turbulence. According to the interior minister, the Thai government's enforcement of the martial law has not affected the general public, but international concerns are understandable. (TNA)
