Thai government ready to display water management

BANGKOK, May 18 (TNA) - The Thai government is prepared to display its efficiency on water management in the country to foreign government leaders during the remaining sessions of the 2nd Asia-Pacific Water Summit, now in progress in the northern Chiang Mai Province. Speaking during the weekly TV and radio programme of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister Plodprasop Suraswadi acknowledged that the Thai government's preparations for the 2nd Asia-Pacific Water Summit, set from May 14-20, also included security provided to 11 foreign government leaders plus deputy vice presidents and deputy prime ministers from 30 countries, which have been all in good place. Plodprasop said during the remaining two-day forum, the foreign government leaders will display their visions, as well as directions on cooperation and the issuance of the Chiang Mai Declaration on water security for human survival in the Asian Pacific region. According to the Thai deputy premier, an exhibition on water projects initiated by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and those under the Thai government’s policy on water management will also be held. The deputy prime minister noted that officials attending the summit will also listen to opinions from people visiting the summit venue on the Thai government’s 350 billion baht water management and flood prevention project.
