Thai government urged to quickly pass law to help farmers

BANGKOK, May 13 (TNA) - Wichian Phuanglamjiak, president of the Thai Agriculturist Association, has called for quick passage of a national welfare bill for Thai farmers on the occasion of the Royal Ploughing Day on Monday. He also called for proper management of water supplies after drought and flooding affected thousands of farmers in the North, the Northeast and the Central Plains, affecting rice farming. On the occasion of the Farmers’ Day yesterday, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra insisted her government has given great importance to improving the lives of some 24 million Thai farmers. (TNA)
