Thai Govt organizes fair to celebrate Queen’s birthday

BANGKOK, August 11 (TNA) - The public is invited to visit the government-sponsored fair to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s 80th birthday which falls on August 12. Speaking during the weekly television and radio programme hosted by the prime minister, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Niwattumrong Boonsongpaisan said the one-week-long fair, started Thursday, is being held at the CentralWorld shopping plaza and complex in central Bangkok. He said the fair is divided into four zones of which the first zone gives an opportunity to people to sign their name wishing Her Majesty the Queen to have a long and happiness life, the second zone displays 10 different kinds of clothing made from Thai silk and designed by 42 popular designers while the third zone exhibits photographs of the Queen’s activities relating to education, agriculture, water conservation, handicraft and development in the South. The last zone displays rare pictures of Their Majesties the King and Queen’s activities in the kingdom. Also, the programme showed Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra presided over the opening of planting of 800 saplings by volunteers to honour the Queen’s 80th birthday and the opening of OTOP City fair in the northern capital of Chiang Mai province.
