Thai Govt seeks help over its kidnapped citizens in Nigeria

BANGKOK, August 12 (TNA) - Thai authorities are working with agencies concerned to help the four Thais, who have been abducted in southern Nigeria, said Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul Monday. He told reporters that the four Thais have been identified as Mr. Panpinij Sommohok, Mrs. Butsaya Sripanya, Mr. Chaiyan Taichompu, and Mr. Bontian with an unknown surname. All the victims worked for an Israeli agricultural company, Omida Farms Co., and the management of the company is waiting to be contacted by kidnappers to hear their demand, he said. The foreign minister said he has ordered Narong Sasitorn, director-general of the Ministry’s South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs Department, to contact Nigerian and Israeli ambassadors to Thailand and urge the governments of both countries to help rescue and ensure the safety of the four victims.
