Thai, Italian PMs discuss several issues

ROME, September 12 (TNA) - Visiting Thai Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra met and had lunch with her Italian counterpart Enrico Letta on Wednesday (local time), during which they discussed several areas of bilateral relations. The Thai and Italian leaders also discussed the development of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and ASEAN’s free trade agreements with trading partners which are beneficial to international investors, including those from Italy. On the occasion, Premier Yingluck congratulated Italy for becoming the chair of the European Union (EU) and the organizer of the World Expo over the next two years. Then both prime ministers witnessed the signing of three memoranda of understanding (MOUs) on bilateral cooperation on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), cooperation between the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) and the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade and cooperation on military affairs. The Thai prime minister is on her trip to Europe, scheduled for September 8-15, covering her official visits to Switzerland, Italy, the Vatican and Montenegro. (TNA)
