Thai King endorses provisional Charter

BANGKOK, July 22 (TNA) - Thai Army and National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha is scheduled to be granted an audience with His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on Tuesday evening to receive the country's provisional Charter endorsed by the revered Thai monarch. General Prayuth reportedly informed authorities concerned of the schedule on Tuesday morning, when he chaired an NCPO meeting at the Royal Thai Army Headquarters in Bangkok. The junta chief said he will be granted an audience with His Majesty the King at Klai Kangwon Palace in seaside Hua Hin District of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province in the Upper Thai South. Under the provisional Charter, a national legislative assembly will be set up to select an interim prime minister who will then form an interim Cabinet to handle the national administration, in lieu of the junta, before a fresh general election is held, expected in 2015. The NCPO has temporarily taken the national administrative power since May 22, 2014 to restore peace and order in the country after a six-month domestic political strife between pro and anti previous government demonstrators.
