Thai king grants audience to people on Coronation Day

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, Thailand, May 5 (TNA) - His Majesty Bhumibol Adulyadej granted an audience to members of the royal family and to civil servants during a ceremony at Klai Kang-won Palace here on Coronation Day Monday. His Majesty the King travelled on Phetkasem Road from Piem-suk Palace to Rajapracha Samakhom Pavilion inside the Palace for a ceremony to commemorate the 64th Coronation Day at 10.30 am. The event was also broadcast live on televisions. Well-wishers, dressed in yellow, gathered along the road to witness the audience. They waved national and royal flags and repeatedly chanted “Long Live the King” as the royal motorcade passed by. Activities, meanwhile, were held nationwide to honor HM the King on the occasion of the Coronation Day. In Buriram province in the northeast, civil servants and general public joined a ceremony to express their gratitude towards His Majesty the King’s contributions to the nation. Such activity was also held in Chon Buri, Surat Thani, Yala, and Chiang Mai provinces. In Bangkok, Su-thep Thaug-su-ban, leader of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee, was set to lead his yellow-clad supporters to march to the Sanam Luang ground to express their loyalty to the royal institution there.
