Thai King, Queen to return to seaside palace tomorrow

BANGKOK, May 9 (TNA) - Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit will leave Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok for their seaside palace in Hua Hin district of Prachuap Khiri Khan province on Sunday. The Bureau of the Royal Household announced on Saturday that their Majesties the king and queen will leave the hospital at 2 pm and return to the Klai Kangwon Palace for recuperation and relaxation. It said the public is invited to greet a royal motorcade along the route from the hospital to the palace, adding that the signing of well-wishing book for their majesties at the hospital will be closed from tomorrow. The 87-year-old king was admitted to the hospital in October last year, where he underwent surgery to remove his gallbladder and treatment for an intestinal infection. Meanwhile, concerned authorities in Prachuap Khiri Khan were on Saturday preparing activities to welcome back their beloved Majesties the King and Queen to the palace. Prachuap Khiri Khan Governor Veera Sriwattanatrakul told reporters that he has instructed the Hua Hin Municipality Office to improve landscape surrounding the Klai Kangwon Palace and to put up royal flags on roads in the district. The municipality office has also been ordered to check street lights and to prepare royal flags for people who will gather near the palace to greet their majesties upon their arrival tomorrow, he said.
