Thai Lower House to fully support reform council

BANGKOK, June 28 (TNA) - Newly appointed Secretary-General to the Thai House of Representatives Charae Panpruang says he will fully support the national reform council, which will be established in the near future. Charae, who was promoted from deputy secretary-general to the Thai House of Representatives in an announcement made by the army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) on Friday evening, told journalists on Saturday that he will also set aside an initial budget of 10 billion baht for the reform council. Apart from routine tasks, including supporting the work of the Lower House and administering meetings of its members, Charae noted that supporting the reform council would not be difficult, as it would have about 250 members, much less than Lower House members, pointing out that assistance would be focused on legal and academic matters. Charae acknowledged that he needs to first study on duties of the reform council's members and to draft up to date regulations, aimed to prevent members of the reform council and even those of the House of Representatives from abusing their power.
