Thai MFA attends ASEM FMM12

LUXEMBOURG, November 6 (TNA) - Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai attends the 12th ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (ASEM-FMM12) in Luxembourg from November 5-6, 2015, during which he has raised irregular migration in the Indian Ocean and proposed solutions that should be developed from the results of a meeting on the issue in Thailand on May 29, calling for the solutions before migration would resume after the monsoon season. Don told the two-day ASEM-FMM12 that Thailand promotes tangible cooperation between the two continents for the benefits of people of both sides. Don also presented Bangkok initiatives on the Asia-Europe (ASEM) future, covering cooperation on security affairs, long-term trade promotion through free trade agreements (FTAs) and the connectivity of waterway transport and other infrastructure. The ASEM-FMM12, entitled “Working Together for a Sustainable and Secure Future”, is gathering ministers and representatives from 51 Asian and European countries to discuss cooperation between both continents. Apart from civilian cooperation, the ASEM-FMM 2015 also discussed climate change and inter-connectivity. (TNA)
