Thai military backs government, opposition to jointly solve unrest in deep South

YALA, September 14 (TNA) - The military has joined several other parties in voicing support for a joint attempt by the Thai government and the opposition camp to seek solutions to persistent violent unrest in Thailand's southern border region. Deputy Prime Minister General Yuthasak Sasiprapa and Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha expressed the support on Friday when they are visiting Yala Province in the Thai violence-plaged deep South to follow up latest developments. General Yuthasak expressed his satisfaction with a planned meeting between the government and the main opposition Democrat Party in Bangkok on September 18 to discuss solutions to the Thai far South. The deputy premier told journalists that he will also attend the meeting, and that he expects the situation in the southernmost Thai region will gradually improve subsequently. (TNA)
