Thai-Myanmar nationals give alms on Visakha Bucha Day

TAK, May 20 (TNA) -- Thailand and Myanmar strengthen the bonds between the two neighbouring countries by jointly organising an alms giving ceremony at the Thai-Myanmar Friendship bridge to celebrate Visakha Bucha day. The Culture Office of Tak province in Thailand and Myawaddy of Myanmar have jointly held an alms giving ceremony this morning on the occasion of Visakha Bucha day, while also aiming to tighten the relationships between both sides through the connections of Buddhism and culture. The event was held on the Thai-Myanmar Friendship located in Mae Sot district of Tak province. Tak Governor Charoenrit Sa-nguansat and Myawaddy Governor Lui Go U also led over 1,000 high ranking officials and people from both sides to participate in a joint prayer session for world peace and prosperity. After the prayer session, 90 Buddhist monks from both countries then made their morning rounds on the bridges in order to allow the devout Buddhists to give alms and make merits for good luck and fortune.
