Thai National Police Chief Visits Violence- Plagued Deep South

YALA, April 15 (TNA) – Thailand’s National police chief Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew on Tuesday visited the far South that is plagued with violence to follow up regional situations and discuss solutions with local officials. Pol Gen Adul and his delegation arrived in Yala province Tuesday morning. Pol Lt Gen Yongyuth Charoenwanich, commissioner of the Southern Border Provinces Police Operation Center, welcomed the delegation and briefed them on present and future situations and the progress of important security cases in the region. The meeting discussed the improvement of investigation, interrogation, forensic activities and surveillance cameras and the progress of a project to set up sub-district police stations in southern border provinces. Pol Gen Adul said that he visited the region to follow up situations and performances of local security agencies, lay down his policies and give moral support to officers injured there. The national police chief commented that situations in the Muslim – dominated South were improving at a certain extent although some violent incidents continued. He said that he had ordered local police to take proactive approaches including strict checkpoint operation and intensified security measures in urban areas. Soldiers, police, administrators and local people were actively joining forces to boost safety, he added.(TNA)
