Thai NLA members required to declare assets, liabilities

BANGKOK, August 14 (TNA) - Members of Thailand's National Legislative Assembly (NLA) are required to declare their assets and liabilities. The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) resolved to make the requirement on Thursday, as NLA members work like Members of the Parliament (MPs) and Senators. The NACC elaborated that Thailand's 2007 Constitution required MPs and Senators to disclose their assets and liabilities and the 2014 provisional Constitution requires NLA members to work like MPs and Senators. NACC Secretary-General Sansern Poljiak told journalists that the NACC requires NLA members to declare their assets and liabilities within 30 days after their swearing-in on August 8. Sansern said the NACC will then publicize the declarations within 30 days, after the deadline on September 7. Sansern stated, however, that the NACC does not ban any NLA member from holding more than 5 per cent in a concessionaire of the state because the NLA was swiftly formed although the NACC law bans such substantial holding.
