Thai North not affected by Myanmar’s quake

BANGKOK, July 4 (TNA) - A 2.9 magnitude earthquake jolted the Thai North on Thursday morning, with its epicenter detected in Myanmar, but the tremor did not affect Thailand. According to the Mineral Resources Office, Region 1, in Thailand's northern Lampang Province, the quake occurred at 8:41am with its epicenter located about 56 kilometer northwest of Mae Hong Son Province’s Pangmapha District. There have been no reports that any people in Mae Hong Son felt or were affected by the minor quake. The agency, however, warned that any earthquake in either Thailand or neighbouring Myanmar is to be closely watched out, as there are eight fault lines in the Thai North which could move in line with the Sa Kaeng fault line in Myanmar.
