Thai people celebrate King’s birthday

BANGKOK, Dec 5 (TNA) - Officials of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and people from all walks of life early Friday wore yellow shirts and offered alms to Buddhist monks, celebrating their revered His Majesty the King’s 87th birthday. Led by BMA governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra, BMA officials and people offered alms to 188 monks in front of BMA headquarters. The BMA plans to candle lighting ceremony in front of His Majesty the King portrait at the same site at 6.00 p.m. today. Various ceremonies are being organised by BMA between December 3 – 5 to display loyalty to the revered world’s longest-reigning monarch. The activities include planting trees along Raja-uthit - Liebwaree Road and decorating colourful lights along major roads and the Chao Phraya River banks. (TNA)
