Thai PM arrives in California for ASEAN-US Special Summit

BANGKOK, February 15 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has arrived in California to attend the ASEAN-US Special Summit, set to be held during Februay 15-16 (local time). Accompanied by his entourage, the Thai prime minister arrived at Los Angeles Airport on February 14 (local time) and went to Rancho Mirage, the venue of the summit. The prime minister then first had a discussion with Thai scientists, representatives of the Association of Thai Professionals in America and Canada (ATPAC) and Thai professionals in creative economy and briefed them on his government's policy on promoting innovations, science and technology and digital economy. The prime minister later told reporters that the two-day summit should boost relations and cooperation between the United States and the ASEAN Community (AC) and give directions for Thailand. The prime minister said he is pleased to also meet the Thai people working in scientific fields in the United States who told him that they are ready to cooperate with the Thai government on national development projects. “Communication channels must be opened. I will apply what was discussed to national development plans and the production of human resources to meet national demands,” the prime minister told the journalists. The prime minister also suggested that Thai people working in the country and those working abroad develop their networks to help boost the national economy. (TNA)
