Thai PM to attend 3rd World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Japan

BANGKOK, March 4 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha will visit Japan later this month to attend the 3rd World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai City. Thani Thongphakdi, Thailand's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, told journalists on Wednesday that Thailand, represented by the prime minister himself, receives the honor to co-chair the 3rd World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, set to be held in Sendai from March 14-18. Thani said the Thai prime minister will present the important roles of the private sector, the strength of communities and the government's investment plans to reduce disaster risks at the upcoming world conference. During the five-day world conference, Thani noted, participating world leaders will also endorse an initial framework that their countries will follow to reduce the risks of natural disasters.(TNA)
