Thai PM to attend ASEAN Summit 2015 in KL

BANGKOK, November 10 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha is scheduled to attend the ASEAN Summit 2015 and related forums in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's capital, from November 21-22. Chakrit Sriwali, Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of ASEAN Affairs, told journalists on Tuesday that the Thai prime minister will leave Manila, the Philippines' capital, where he will participate in the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit 2015 and related forums, for Kuala Lumpur on November 19, after the conclusion of the 23rd APEC Summit and related meetings, set from November 17-18. Chakrit said major issues to be discussed at the 27th ASEAN Summit and related forums include regional haze, climate change, natural disaster and transnational crime. Chakrit revealed that the Thai prime minister and other leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will also discuss on how to further strengthen ASEAN ties with countries outside the 10-member bloc. According to the senior official, ASEAN government leaders are also expected to sign three significant documents during their upcoming summit and related forums, including the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on the Establishment of the ASEAN Community (AC) and on the Convention on Anti-Human Trafficking, especially against women and children.
