Thai PM concludes two-day Brunei visit

BANGKOK, March 26 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha arrived in Bangkok on Thursday morning, ending his two-day official visit to Brunei. Thai Government Spokesman Dr. Yongyuth Mayalarp told journalists that Brunei was the sixth member state of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Prime Minister General Prayut had visited to introduce himself. During his stay in Brunei, the spokesman stated, the Thai prime minister discussed the promotion of bilateral ties and cooperation, including that on trade, investment and security through joint training programs. Besides, the Thai prime minister thanked Brunei for importing 30,000 tonnes of Thai rice yearly and, probably, expanding the import in the future. According to the spokesman, the Thai prime minister also called on Brunei to help promote ASEAN stages, where regional halal goods and farm products will be introduced, along with technological development and transfer. The spokesman said the Thai leader also asked Brunei to avoid setting prices of farm products that would result in competition between both countries. The spokesman noted that Thailand and Brunei have also agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation on legal fishery. The spokesman revealed the Thai prime minister also invited the Sultan of Brunei to visit Thailand. (TNA)
